Off Roading hermit @ Tungareshwar

Located arround 50 kms from Mumbai, this trip has an offering of an extreme offroading adventure.
The track is set inside a thick forest and amidst a meandering river arising from the hills above. Rains just transform this rocky patch of road into a muck filled slippery trail.
An alternate world of an imaginative mind, you feel like a militiaman riding through some Colombian forest!!!

The rocks, muck, river crossings and inclines with bends gives quite an exercise to the nervous system.

As the name suggests, right on top of the range is a very old Shiva temple. Its only in such places that you find the temple peaceful and above the rest.
Do not miss the action if you see some Sadhu's around :)

'Cutting chai' lovers that we are, the usual look out for a chaiwalla led to a peaceful 'tapri' outside the temple.
The calm forest which incidentally also has a bustling wildlife just pulls you into being a silent spectator and before you know, you are a part of the a bigger silent audience all arround you.

Although we have never really tried an overnight stay here, but a couple of kms uphill lead you to some resorts. Rooms can be hired at reasonable rates.

If you are a fan of starry nights this setting should simply be irresistable. The sounds emerging from the jungle is magnified in the dark silence. Quite a psychadelic feeling I tell you!

So all you need is a free day, a bike and good a spirit. So weekend riders here's another getaway!
